Pilonidal Sinus

Pilonidal Sinus looks like a boil on the skin. It is mostly found in the obese men and women having a hairy body. Pilonidal sinus occurs at the crack of the buttocks just near the tail bone in 80% of the patients while 20% of the patients can have a pilonidal cyst in the armpit or at both the places. In Pilonidal Sinus the body hair start to grow inwards and form a bundle of hair inside the skin. This causes pus formation and the pus starts to come out of the opening which looks like a small hole on the skin. The patients normally visit a physician or an orthopaedician who prescribe antibiotics for the same. Sometimes the antibiotics are able to dry up the pus but the problem is not eradicated as the hair bundles inside the skin remain intact.
